Beta-propiolactone as an agent for enzyme sterilization.
A chemical method for the sterilization of pancreatin and trypsin is given. Evidence is presented to show that this treatment does not diminish the specific activity of the enzymes and has some advantages in microbiological techniques.
متن کاملDevelopment of a virosome vaccine for Newcastle disease virus.
In an effort to protect chickens against Newcastle disease (ND), a nonreplicating virosome vaccine was produced by solubilization of Newcastle disease virus (NDV) with Triton X-100 followed by detergent removal with SM2 Bio-Beads. Biochemical analysis indicated that the NDV virosomes had similar characteristics as the parent virus and contained both the fusion and hemagglutinin-neuraminidase pr...
متن کاملClone Purification, Characterization and Standardization of LaSota Strain for Developing a Live Vaccine against Newcastle Disease Virus
Newcastle disease (ND) is one of the most serious illnesses of chickens. Live vaccines are widely used to prevent chicken from the disease all over the world. To access the effective and potentiate ND vaccine, a homogenous subpopulation from LaSota strain was selected following cultivation of the virus on primary chicken embryofibroblast (CEF) cells. Pathogenicity indices and molecular characte...
متن کاملBeta - Propiolactone Vapor as a Disinfectant 1
Despite recently revived interest in gaseous disinfection or sterilization, only two compounds, formaldehyde and ethylene oxide, have been used to any great extent for this purpose. As discussed by Phillips (1957) in a review of gaseous sterilization, several other compounds have been mentioned in the literature as possessing bactericidal properties in the vapor state but have been put to littl...
متن کاملCharacterization of a recombinant Newcastle disease virus vaccine strain.
A recombinant La Sota strain (KBNP-C4152R2L) in which fusion (F) and hemagglutinin-neuraminidase (HN) genes were replaced with those of a contemporary genotype VIId virus, KBNP-4152, has been developed. To attenuate the virulence of the recombinant strain, the F cleavage motif was mutated from (112)RRQKR(116) to (112)GRQAR(116), and to reduce pathogenic instability, a codon which does not allow...
